Carrie uses a combination of traditional and Suzuki methods. As a child, she learned to play with the Suzuki Method. Later, under the instruction
of Drostan Hall, she progressed quickly in the traditional method of learning.
Her degree in Music Education (Strings K-12) gave her professional training on
directing orchestra and teaching all string instruments in the classroom. Due
to her exposure to many types of teaching, she is able to create a method that
involves listening, memorization, music theory, and traditional technique.
With her younger students (ages 4-10), she starts with the Suzuki
Book I and CD. If her student is over the age of 10, she uses a
combination of the Suzuki book and the Essential Elements Book I. The Essential
Elements book introduces more traditional music theory and concepts. She also
uses scales, etudes, and vibrato exercises to make technical progress with
each student.
Mrs. Neuner believes that it is possible for any person, of
any age, to play a stringed instrument. She enjoys developing each
student and making progress with their individual goals. She finds it very
rewarding to teach so many different students and ages groups.
